Devika Johri & Neha Sweatambri, CCS Working Paper No.22 (Governance)
The Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board (DAMB) is a classic example of how government intervention unnecessarily creates mayhem in transactions between two parties that do not require a third party to intervene. DAMB has failed to fulfil its objectives of ensuring that farmers receive a fair price and checking untoward practices in the agricultural market. Further, it has only allowed the commission agents to squander the money and resources of farmers.
