The Delhi High Court (Amendment) Bill, 2014 seeks to reduce the workload of the Delhi High Court by increasing the pecuniary jurisdiction of the district courts from INR 20 lakh to INR 2 crore. An increase in pecuniary jurisdiction offers litigants greater access to courts with a speedy and less costly disposal of cases. We recommend uniformity in the pecuniary jurisdiction of all high courts in the country.
